Parish Regulations

PARISH BYLAWS

Based on the Special Regulations and Uniform Parish Regulations of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, Parish Bylaws outline the policies and procedures governing church administration.  These Bylaws may be amended or rescinded by a majority vote of the members at a General Assembly.

GENERAL ASSEMBLIES

A general meeting of the members in good standing of the Parish is held at least twice a year. Members in good standing are those whose financial obligations under the Parish Bylaws have been met at the time of each assembly.

PARISH COUNCIL

The Parish Council consists of 21 elected members and the Priest, who shall not have a vote. The Council, meeting monthly, is responsible to the General Assembly for the conduct of all Parish affairs. Council members serve for three years.

STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM

A parishioner is a steward in good standing if they have paid the financial obligation for the preceding calendar year and have made a fair share (stewardship) commitment for the current year and have paid the current prorate financial obligation through the preceding calendar quarter.

Steward categories are as follows:

Stewards are obligated to support the Church through the Stewardship program by making and fulfilling an annual pledge. The amount of the pledge is according to each family or individual’s financial ability to support the Church. Continued status as a steward in good standing relies on paying at least on fourth of that annual pledge on a quarterly basis.

Privileges of the steward includes a modest or no charges for various memorial and sacramental services (see page xii), the right to vote at General Assemblies, and the right to be elected to serve on the Parish Council and inclusion on the Church mailing and steward directory.

For non-stewards there is a fee for Artoclasia, Trisagion, Memorial and Sacraments.

VOTING RIGHTS

A steward in good standing has the right to attend all regular and special Parish Assemblies, to take part in the discussions and to vote therein, and to be elected a member of the Parish Council and in such a position to take part in the administration of the Parish and in the direction of its life and activities.
