The founding of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church took place in 1968. The founders adopted the name, Eastern Orthodox Church of Greater Clearwater, Inc. the seventeen founding fathers of the church were:
C.P. Saclarides, Raymond Argyros, Peter N. Saroodis, Dr. Louis Michaelos, Wally Baskovich, E. Peter Tragos, James Matheos, Nicholas T. Maillis, Nick Gonatos, Thomas J. Gatsiolis, Dr. John T. Karaphillis, Alexander Dervech, Harry J. Dritsas, Peter Panarites, Alexander Gelep, Andrew Kallivokas and Frank Photiades.
Major donors of land and/or funds for the construction of the church, community hall, educational building and recreation center were Mr. & Mrs. James Matheos, Katherine Michail, Louis Vanech, Nicholas F. Papadi, Mr. & Mrs. Gus Stathis and Clearwater chapter 356, AHEPA.
The land for the church was purchased in 1968 and groundbreaking ceremonies took place on December 1st of that year. The church, yet to be built, was named Holy Trinity by the godparents. Church construction began in 1969 and on Christmas Day, 1969, Father John P. Athas, our first priest, celebrated the first Divine Liturgy.
In October 1977, Father John Hondras became the priest of our parish and served until he retired in 1984. Father Theo Anastas became the priest in 1984 and in 1988 a second priest was added to the church staff. In 1991 Father James Rousakis replaced Father Anastas who was reassigned to
